For my Idea its the best choice now, as it is free, actively developed an the CERN stands for further development, so the future is bright I took me 4 hours to make my first board, once you know how it works it is easy to use. The interactive router is something one has to try, its fun, and really fast. I found the hint to Kicad first here, never thought of an alternative to eagle, but yesterday I invested 4 hours on Kicad, its free, has no limits at all, and it is a lot more powerful as Eagle, I was truly amazed. My old license will run until I die, new projects will be done with Kicad: ![]() The "exciting new features" are not used by me, so why upgrade? 2 Layers are not enough, and the big license if way too expensive only for 4 layers. Until today many customers complained here, and I did not find any solution for me, as the subscription will continue by autodesk, they transferred all their software to subscriptions and since they do business with the big ones they do not give something on small customers. ![]()
